19th Century Giltwood and Gesso over mantel mirror in Neoclassical taste, the leaf moulded cornice above a frieze with anthemion and acanthus scrolls, bevelled mirror plate with egg and dart moulded surround.  The depth and quality of the gilding makes this piece considerably better than most.
